In the UK alone, there are approximately half a million people each year who will develop a pressure ulcer. There is no doubt that stopping these painful wounds before they happen saves time, money and, most importantly, unnecessary suffering for the cared for.
Raising awareness of pressure ulcers amongst those involved in care, including individuals themselves and family members, can help with preventing pressure ulcers and detecting them early.
The NHS Stop the Pressure has some great resources to help you get involved in this years campaign.
New, Free Pocket Sized Card
To help with raising awareness we have created a new handy, double sided pocket sized card, that could also go in a clear wallet on a lanyard. This card is great for either handing out to family members or staff to highlight the vulnerable areas for pressure ulcers.
