Pressure ulcers are a significant healthcare problem. Approximately half a million people each year will develop a pressure ulcer.
There is no doubt that stopping these painful wounds before they happen saves time and money. Perhaps, most importantly, it prevents unnecessary suffering for the cared for.
Raising awareness of pressure ulcers amongst those involved in care, including individuals themselves and family members, can help with preventing pressure ulcers and detecting them early.
The NHS Stop the Pressure has some great resources to help you get involved in this year’s campaign.
New, Free A3 Poster
To help raise awareness we have created a new A3 poster to highlight the areas that are vulnerable to pressure ulcers. It also gives you some information on early signs of a pressure ulcer. This poster is great for putting up on staff noticeboards, or public areas for all to see.
