A month ago, patients being admitted to hospital with Covid-19 hit a reassuringly low daily average of below 100. As we have seen though, this was perhaps the lull before the new storm of rising coronavirus cases and hospital admissions. The daily average of admissions has now risen to over 500, and whilst this is nowhere near the peak we saw in April/May, it is showing a worrying trend1. As the Government’s Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty, pointed out;
